President Graham to Pass the Torch of Leadership to Shayne

After serving as President for the Warkworth Hockey Club since its inception in 2019, Graham Buchs prepares to pass the torch of leadership to Shayne Dawson, marking a significant transition in the club's journey.

Since its beginnings, Graham has steered the club through remarkable growth and development. From its initial formation with just one men's and one women's team, to its current status boasting three men's teams and two women's teams, under his guidance, the club has not only expanded its playing roster but has also solidified its role as a vital community institution.

  • Among Graham's proudest achievements is the realisation of the club's goals in supporting the local hockey turf and fostering a sense of camaraderie within the community. This growth and success would not have been possible without the unwavering support of the North Harbour Hockey association, to whom the club extends a heartfelt acknowledgment.

As Graham prepares to step down, Shayne emerges as a natural successor, having been deeply involved in the club's creation and development from the outset. His passion for the sport and his dedication to the club's mission make him well-suited to lead the organisation into its next chapter.

The transition of leadership is expected to take place at the club's Annual General Meeting in June, where members will gather to reflect on past accomplishments and chart a course for the future under Shayne's capable stewardship. As the club bids farewell to Graham's transformative leadership, it eagerly anticipates the fresh perspectives and new opportunities that Shayne will bring. Together, they will continue to uphold the club's values and strive for excellence both on and off the field.
